The root had one droopy decomposing leaf bud start on it by the time I got to it, so I removed the leaf bud and and watered the newly potted rose and hoped for the best. I've had good luck with potted roses using this method. Due to my schedule,I was not able to plant it for three days, so I soaked the roots for several hours and then planted it in a 5 gallon bucket with rich compost, pot ash and some good draining stony soil at the bottom. It arrived in good condition with a very healthy, springy root system and the plant wood was strong and green, and one pale, limp leaf bud. Though it was truly too late to purchase and plant this beauty,I took a chance and bought this rose, which wasl available in bareroot form only at the time.
